I honestly don’t remember much from the ultrasound session. Man says that I cried, but it is all a blur to me. I mainly remember what follows.
We were walking through the hospital hallways, waiting to see a specialist. She would scan us again, and tell us more about multiples pregnancies. We were shocked and in disbelief, but happy. And kind of excited and exhilarated about the odds of having babies of both genders at once. With three in the making, we would most likely get a combo of boys and girls! We bought some coffee in 7-11, and went outside. We had to wait for a couple of hours.
So we called our families to tell them the news. They all knew that our screening was scheduled that day, and were waiting to hear how it went. And they all thought we were joking. It took a lot of repetition and convincing for them to believe what we were saying.
But despite being overwhelmed by the news, we were also strangely happy. And the nurse who did the scan had been so happy too. It was the first time, in 18 years of ultrasound, she had ever discovered triplets – and spontaneous ones, to boot.
